Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania
When Janice Weinberg submitted this photo to It's a Snap, she titled it "King of the Ngorongoro Crater." Even though that looks like a lioness, we thought the majestic pose was very king-like.
Weinberg, who lives in Redmond, Wash., took this photo while visiting Tanzania in June 2009. The crater, according to the Tanzania Tourist Board, is often referred to as "Africa's Eden." In addition to lions, herds of zebra and wildebeest can be seen along the crater's rim.
Of the photo, Weingberg said: "I was on safari in Tanzania and it was a beautiful location with a beautiful wild animal surveying [its] surroundings."

I love the photo!
It's a FEMALE lion. Not exactly a king. More like a queen.
Beautiful pic!
Wonderful, serene shot...
However, as posted above, this is a female lion and the headline should've reflected that. As it is the headline makes whomever wrote it look extremely ignorant. Everybody, including tiny children, know that the 'king' lions have huge manes.
obvious a "play" on wordsthe author chose: the lion "king" in Africa. Perhaps another title would be more appropriate such as Out Of Africa
